From 8th to 20th May at Phonica Records, Poland St, Soho, London, Cybersonica are running a free exhibition of contemporary sonic and audiovisual works from a range of international artists.

Opening hours:
11.30am-7.30pm, Mon-Wed,
11.30am-8pm, Thurs-Sat

The works have been selected for their exciting approaches to creative interactivity. They move beyond the ‘screen, keyboard, mouse scenario’ and respond to physical input, proximity, sound, kinetics, elapsed time and the surrounding environment.

New contributions for this exhibition include a reworking of Herwig Weiser’s Death Before Disko which is an elaboration of the familiar ‘disco ball’. This work uses stereo speakers, LEDs, magnets and magnetic fluid and viewers will be able to control the work themselves via a hardware controller. Julian Oliver & Steven Pickles use Play Station 2 game pads for their work Fijuuu. This exhibit invites visitors to take control of an audio-visual 3D environment by stretching, twisting and shearing images, producing their own ‘sculpture’ samples in 3D forms. Squidsoup’s Freq 2 allows participants to ‘draw’ sound in a 3D visual display. And Schizoporotica by Troika invites viewers to tear up their event tickets and slide them through a modern take on the Victorian music box, to experience sounds created with ‘The Melodie Shredder.’

Two works use Processing, LoopArena and Shadow Monster.
