video on p5 linux?
« on: Jan 8th, 2004, 5:01pm »

hi

is there a way to use video with p5 on linux?
i think it is based on qtjava. there is an old project on sourceforge (http://sourceforge.net/projects/qtjava/).

on the other side oreilly says theres no qtjava on linux..

or is it possible to run the windows p5 version in wine?

greetings

michael

no quicktime for linux, unfortunately.

i believe those qtjava bindings aren't for quicktime, they're for the qt widget toolkit (as in kde/qt) from trolltech.

hopefully with the more library-friendly version of p5 that's on its way, we'll be able to do some sort of video4linux thing for video.

not sure about wine, though it depends mostly on how quicktime runs under wine. however, quicktime for java has enough bugs of its own, so i think running it under wine would only turn the headache into a migraine.
