It makes me wonder (again) how all these new ways of coding in Java will affect IDEs and APIs like Processing. http://java.sun.com/features/2003/05/bloch_qa.html Looking at the list of features, .NET echoes somewhere...

if the previous java runtimes are any indication, this new vm should be 80 MB in size, making the p5 standard download even more of a whopper. (jre for 1.1 was ~6M, 1.2 was ~12M, 1.3 was 20M, 1.4 is now nearly 40MB.. these aren't exact numbers but it's nearly this bad) but maybe you were looking for the positive aspects.

people's idea of doing good software is adding a hell of amount of features and bloating them up. this model makes me wonder where processing will go once IP issues have been ironed out and p5 goes live with code for public consumption. how will we assure that p5's focus is maintained? or, does p5 hope to explode everywhere?
