running profilers

Not sure if this is a question of integrating Processing with something.. but how do I integrate some sort of profiler into the Processing environment? I suppose it's unnecessary for guru's who already have a good idea of what operations are taking how long to complete, but it's helpfull beginners like me to be able to see that in some sort of visual form. I mean, I'm reading into the whole optimisation thing so I have some basic understanding, but it's still nice to be able to see and make sure. From what I see, it seems like I'd need to use a normal Java dev environment to be able to use a profiler... so does that mean I would need to export all the processing libs, etc. and essentially convert the whole thing to a standalone Java code just to see the execuation profile? Perhaps this is more of a feature request..
