Public JSON/XML data for fun and useful projects?
I was recently using the Instagram API to teach myself about working with JSON formatted data. I realize that there are tons of XML/JSON APIs to interface with (the Yahoo Weather XML example included with Processing, Instagram, Facebook, The New York Times), and that there are plenty of fun things to do with them.
What public data have you used in your projects? Are there any fun, quirky, or underappreciated APIs that you think people should know about? In my searching, I found a website ( http://www.programmableweb.com/ ) that is a good starting point for finding new APIs. But I wanted to start a discussion and see if there are anything you all found interesting or worth investigating.
