extract Processing folder/files....

edited March 2017 in Using Processing

(new to coding)

extracting Processing files two files appear Processing and Processing-Java applications

do I extract both files or just one. if I extract both files do I have both files merge into one folder named: processing-3.3

Or do I extracted files from Processing application, and then run the file processing-java application ?

Is there a benefit from opening one 1st rather than the other?

thank you in advance for any help/info provided

When you download the zip file from the Processing Foundation's website, you unzip the file and it will generate a folder. Go into this folder (you might need two go two levels in) and click in the Processing.exe. The second file, processing-java.exe is to run Processing in command line so it is not need it in most cases.

  • I don't see the exe on the end of the extracted file. Just processing

  • What Operating system are you using? You will have processing.exe for the Processing files downloaded for Windows. For linux and Macs, the executable doesn't have and exe extension.

  • Windows hides extensions as well, depending on your settings.

  • Good point @koogs.
