The Pi Day

Today is the Pi Day:
this is a random-walking of the first (octal) 10 million digits of Pi.
The true image is 5906x3660 pixels.
The max image that i have been able to create is 25000x15000 pixels (100 million Pi digits).

  • The color means time evolution? Also, how long did it take you to produce 10 and 100 million steps. This was done using Processing?

    Kf

  • how is it a random-walk when you've mapped the digits to directions?

@kfrajer: Yes. Each color go for (10.000.000/12) points. About 15 minutes for 100 million (no exact time :-/). But i processed about 100.000 digit/sec.
I have precalculated the digits with mathematica and saved in a text file.
I have used other math constants (euler, sqrt(2), golden number).
    Yes. It's done in processing.
@koogs: the digits of Pi are random ;)
We can find any book in the digits of Pi... if we had the time to look for them :)
