OF COURSE is the intersection of art, design and technology. It was established in New York in 2013 and the team is constituted of excellent interactive artists, hackers, computer poets and digital audio-visual experts. We keep spreading the idea of driving art by coding (in many forms) not just in the US but internationally as well. For instance, OF COURSE landed China in 2015, where we set up a research center for creative coding in Shanghai and successfully offered three semesters of courses.

The purpose of OF COURSE is to provide Chinese artists and designers with opportunities to learn the 21st century’s interactive technology. Our courses cover several topics such as Audio Video System，Virtual Reality，Data Visualization and Physical Computing. For every theme, the class has at most fifteen students. Students will learn design, creative coding, prototyping, applied electronics, and fabrication. Instructors, assistants and entrepreneurship advisors will assist students in making an interactive art project.

The final work of the entire course takes the form of new media art, AR/VR project, data visualization, or wearable devices/fashion technology products. During the progression of study components, students will not only develop products with instructors, but also learn a bevy of career planning skills in entrepreneurship and in the technical field under the direction of entrepreneurship advisors. A graduation show will be held to present students’ works at the end of each course period.

OF COURSE is now looking for an instructor to teach interactive creative coding courses in Shanghai. This can be a short term or long term job depending - - we are open to negotiation, so it’s up to your schedule. The instructor must be enthusiastic, creative, and willing to take the initiative in contributing to the community. He or she should be able to help students keep to the learning schedule, and increase their ability to compete career-wise through the study of art and technology. The instructor will be responsible for planning the courses according to the education outlines, teaching students the interactive design and technology, and assisting our team to make education files and teaching videos. We offer competitive wages and free excursion travel every three months.

Requirements: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field Strong presentation skills Student support & advising Excellent interpersonal, communication and demonstration skills Ability to perform complex tasks and to prioritize multiple projects Analyzing and solving problems Communicating projects and deadlines to students as well as ensuring those deadlines are met Enjoying working with young adults Fabrication, physical computing, and design experience Experience in education is a plus, but not required Adaptability of foreign culture Mandarin speaker is a plus, but not required
