Yes, it has been removed, because Java applets are no longer welcome in most browsers (because of security issues, mostly), and were kind of problematic in general.
IIRC, there is a tool allowing to export as before.
Otherwise, the way to go is to use the JavaScript mode, although it is limited (you cannot use libraries or Java-specific classes).
