CV and image processing from an IP Network camera
Jun 4th, 2010, 8:26am

Hey folks.

I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to approach the problem of getting a video stream from an IP network camera into processing.  I've not seen any support for this in any of the existing vision libraries, they all seem to use VFW or similar methods of accessing local attached cameras.  There is an interesting thread here: http://processing.org/discourse/yabb2/num_1192330628.html but it doesn't address this issue directly.

The IP cam I have available is a Sony SNC-P1 http://www.sony.co.uk/biz/view/ShowProduct.action?product=SNC-P1 which can output an MPEG-4 stream over TCP or UDP (both Uni and Multicast). My aim is to do blob detection and some other CV processing on the video stream.

Has anyone in the community done anything else similar

cheers
Jim
