Looking for processing/media playback specialists
Apr 6th, 2010, 3:24am

Hi all,
we (Halle 5 Media GmbH - (cannot include a direct link yet since this is my first post here)) are looking for processing experts who are available for freelance jobs. If there is no one in our area (Munich, Germany/Bavaria) we are also considering to work with people residing anywhere else as long as eye-to-eye contact via Skype video is possible and time zone differences are not too huge.
We have requests for projects with a focus on rock-stable media playback controlled by custom electronic devices. We believe processing might handle this best considering it is an open, Java-based platform that will not be dumped in the years to come due to the huge community base.
I myself have only just begun to get an overview of the possibilities of processing and the vast number of custom libraries, so I'm looking for an honest answer to the question whether processing is really a good choice when you think of
- windowless fullscreen video playback
- rock-stable HD playback - there is no room for fiddling with and tweaking the frame rate once the hardware is agreed upon by anyone involved
- maybe even 3D HD playback (i.e. two separate streams of 720p playback absolutely synchronous over some minutes at least)

Do you think (or have even proof) that's feasible? Please drop a note here or contact us directly - we're looking forward to get in touch with you!
Some words about us: We are a media production company in Munich having long lasting experience with program-controlled media juggling - but we have done this mostly with Flash so far. Since Flash is a) still a somewhat proprietary black box and b) a product with a nebulous future and since it cannot connect to custom hardware without additional tools we are looking for an alternative that avoids proprietary concepts as much as possible. It also gets harder and harder to decide which technology might be at least *somewhat* future-proof and stable enough for a certain range of projects.

I'm sure someone has thoughts on this - thanks in advance for your opinions!
