HowTo communicate with printer(not standard print)

Hi all,

How can I communicate a serial dot matrix printer?
(seikosha sp1900)

I want it to send (print) little blocks of images (say, 20x20 px)
(these blocks come each time from the same place on the page.)
And after it has placed 30 of these it has to go to the next line.

In other words. It should not send every block as an complete A4 page.
But it has to "build" the page.

Is that possible?

I have no direct knowledge of the printer you are using as I was weaned on the Epson LX800 Smiley

Do you know more details about the printer you are using?

Also you said "serial dot matrix printer" but how is the printer actually connected to your PC? I've never actually seen a printer connected to a serial port, since most are connected to the bigger parallel port. I don't think Processing has support for parallel ports though.

The "serial dot matrix printer" that I know, refers only to the technology of the print head.

Goodluck.
