Back in 2005, someone asked "if processing would support setting the clipping rectangle (or even better specify a shape as the clipping region)". The response said "check out this section of the faq: (link to section #java2d)". Alas, that section appears to have vanished.

I'm sure that I should just RTFM, but there's a lot of FM to R, and I don't see anything in the alphabetical list of functions that looks like it would get the Java graphics object for me.

You are looking for PImage.mask(), I think. (Yes, it was well hidden... Smiley)
I gave an example in Re: fill shape with pattern.
