no matching architecture in universal wrapper

I now have several libraries that all have started exhibiting the same or similar problem. I'm running on a macBook(intel) with 10.5.7 and Processing 1.0.5. The sample video examples do not work. The SMS library which used to work does not work, and another library I was just trying gives the same problem. In each case it finds the jnilib file but gives the error

no matching architecture in universal wrapper

Can anyone one help me out? I really love processing and I use it in my teaching. I'd like to get back up to full functionality.
