6 Installations for 3D Glasses
Jan 26th, 2009, 8:29pm

Hi Everyone!
For a residency and exhibition (up now at the Teacher's College Library, New York City), I made a series of 6 generative/reactive installations for 3D glasses. Lower-res applet versions available online:

http://music.columbia.edu/~daniglesia/video/edlab/

try to get your hands on a good pair of 3D glasses (red-blue) for the full experience! It's all in processing, with the exception of an openGL hack in java openGL code to change the color blend mode. The code is far too ugly to share at this moment...

These are an outgrowth of my work making live video performance systems for 3D glasses which I've been performing around new york city for the last year (mostly in Jitter). Reply here if you'd like any more info...

Nice work, interesting interaction, when will you share the code? Don't be shy. Just comment the ugly bits with
//I know this is ugly, bear with me

ciao
Andrea

Is there some material written about the theory behind making it 3D so I can design to that spec?

Dan, I'd love to see your project, but the web server is giving an error (file not being served as HTML, it wants me to download rather than view the project pages).

Could you take a look and let us know when the site is working again?  Thanks!

I had the same problem. I copied the link and placed a forward slash at the end and then added "index.html" that works

e.g.

Thanks, Andrew.  That doesn't work for me.  I still just see the raw HTML code of the page.

That is sweet. Do you use a double draw method or something else. I heard of these new glasses that set back the view of one eye so that the alternating frames are viewed as 3-D. Very cool but you need a frameRate that is higher that 100 so it only really works for making movies.
