Differencing high notes and low notes with minim

Hi. I'm doing a program that would interact with the music I play with the guitar. I use the getFreq function to get the amplitude of the desired freq, so the program will know what note i'm playing. The problem comes when i play an A with a freq 440 Hz, the amplitude is the same in fre 440 hz and in 220 Hz and all the equivalents. I would like to know if there is something to get the difference between them, so i can do different things even if it is a high note or a low note.

Thanks!

I sort of understand what you are asking, but not entirely. Posting your code would be helpful in that regard.
