Processing & C#
Nov 4th, 2008, 4:25am

How's it going, everyone? I'm looking to learn Processing in the coming year. I also have the opportunity to take an intro. programming course (I have no programming experience) using C# at my school next semester. I'm wondering how much a working yet, rudimentary, knowledge of C# might help me to get going with Processing. Are the languages very similar? I'm just looking to expand my skillset beyond typography/illustration, and Processing looks really cool. I learn stuff like this best in a classroom environment, which is why I'm wondering about the C# class.

Any advice/commentary would be greatly appreciated – thanks!

these languages are similar in syntax but not in API. you will not find the Processing functions in C# but in general it will help you understand the concept of programming in c-style languages. so, yeah a C# class (if that's the best you can get) will help you getting started with programming and hence with processing too.

Thanks for the response, fjen. That's pretty much what I thought/was hoping for.
