Processing performance and Java version
Sep 24th, 2008, 6:29pm

While developing a particle system with Processing 0135, which manages +- a thousand of particles, with a 32x32pixel sprite.

We are experiencing a lot of difference about processing apps performance, depending on the Java version and the renderering engine.

For example, we obtain a good framerate (20fs) on a PC with Jre 1.6_06 and the default renderer.

But on my laptop (Dell Precision m90), with the same virtual machine version, I have a very poor framerate.

In both cases the processor works at 30-40%.
The two computers both have a NVidia QuadroFX.

What's happening?
