black box

This is a link to an essay I have just written, mostly in response to my university environment. The essay is still only a draft, but there is a demo applet written in Processing, which shows a simple typography experiment I have created for classroom use. Just click on DEMO APPLET in the intro page.

I get an empty white (irony?) box in Firefox 3.01, Java 1.6.0_07 Windows XP. Maybe your font didn't get embedded?

Sorry about the confusion. I should redesign that page and include better instructions.

To see the font, please just start typing. You can also use the arrow keys to move about the screen (although there is no visible cursor).

OK, it does work. I don't think I ever would have thought to start typing so instructions might be beneficial. I wonder what would make someone want to type something in the box? A blinking cursor is the most universal 'type here' affordance I can think of at the moment but is there something else that fits your thesis?

Also, it looks like you're trying to reference The Matrix and I'm not sure that was your intent.
