Abstract Motion

Gestures and temporal dynamics are the centerpiece of this sketch.  Some of the color combinations are repugnant, yet others are strikingly beautiful.  I think the gestures resemble pen and ink, chalk, watercolor wash, and other traditional techniques.

Is it art?  You be the judge. But I like these images more than some of the well-regarded cubists and abstract impressionists. Does this sketch raise questions on our notions of aesthetics in shape, color, motion, form and composition?

Would be curious to know others' reactions to this sketch.

This is nice. But a bit too much like "shapey" for my tastes, if you know what I mean. If you are into this kind of thing, there is a wealth of possibilities in strange attractors, fractals, and evolutional computing. One interesting example is the screensaver I use called electricsheep. You should check it out here if you haven't already:

Hmmm.. nice, but is it really an abstraction? What is it an abstraction of? Motion? It's nice to look at, but I think I would enjoy it more if there were some 'meaning' or 'content'.

i agree with atomboy, you need to have a sense what you're abstracting from, for example with cubist art, you can still see familiar forms which all goes to challenge your perception.  ultimately you don't need to explain what you're doing, it should speak for itself.  but well done on the effort anyways.

WOW, that looks eerily like a project that I am doing in a class for architecture right now.  The code is even alike. Of course I love it.  Mine saves the images and changes color when the screen is clicked and plays music using ESS along with it but the concept is very close.  My intention is to use it as a random shape generator to develop shapes for architectural forms.  Anyway again I think it looks great. Awesome!
