reading mic input pitch and volume
Aug 26th, 2008, 7:53am

Is there any library that can give me a # depending on pitch?
I want to be able to control X and Y with voice.
Would FFT work?
I have FFT runnning via ESS, but I'm not exactly sure what FFT is doing exactly.
Any help would be much appreciated!

thanks Cheesy

An FFT converts the audio signal into a spectrum, which is a bunch of frequency bands. What you could do is use the FFT on the incoming audio and then find the frequency band with the highest value and consider that the "pitch" of the incoming audio. Then use that value to drive your animation.
