Type + Code Processing For Designers

Dear Processing Community,

Great to see you. My name is Yeohyun Ahn. I and my two collaborators, Viviana Cordova and John Page Corrigan, have been working hard to make a tutorial book for code driven typography with Processing since last year.

I believe that it will be coming this June by using lulu.com, on-line indie publishing company.  Before I publish, I would like to share this good news with Processing Community.

Here is a brief description:

Type + Code Processing For Designers
Type + Code has been created especially for designers and design students in classrooms with limited or none prior knowledge of programming language code. Also, Type + Code is geared towards the interests and values of graphic design such as color, form, typography, etc. Type + Code, explores the aesthetic of experimental code driven typography, with an emphasis on the programming language processing which was created by Casey Reas and Ben Fry. This book includes Processing in basic, intermediate and advanced levels. In the beginning of the book we provide a basic introduction to Processing, from creating letters, patterns, color to layers and examples to performing basic graphic design functions such as rotating, transparency and repeating. The more advanced level chapters are inspirational samples; later chapters explore more complicated and structural coding, which express the unlimited possibilities of creating with Processing.

It is invited at Massaging Media 2: AIGA Design Educators Conference 2008 in Boston.

Co-Authors: Yeohyun Ahn and Viviana Cordova
Managing Editor and Design:John Page Corrigan

Yeohyun,

The book sounds like a great edition to the Processing literature – can't wait to see it!
Congratulations.
