General question: diagrams?

Hi, I'm wondering if Processing is well-suited for creating (and some animating of) diagrams.  The diagrams I have in mind are simple block diagrams that illustrate (for instance) communication in a distributed system protocol along with the various state (operating system data structures and data pages) that are involved in the protocol.  If Processing is too much for this, could someone recommend a more suitable tool?  Thanks in advance!
