Berkeley Art Museum: "In Popular Terms"
Nov 8th, 2007, 8:08pm

I just finished working on a project for the Berkeley Art Museum.  The project is called "In Popular Terms" and is part of the exhibition "RIP.MIX.BURN.BAM.PFA" which runs until March 2008.

You can take a look at it here:

http://www.inpopularterms.net/app/

There is a PHP spider which indexes environmental, ecology, and natural science websites, a PHP script which generates XML files when there are new results, and then Processing pulls in the data from XML (using proXML) and displays a set of terms and a graph at the bottom for the results over time, from 2004-present.   All the sketch code is online.  Just click "Developers' Notes" at the bottom of the screen if you're interested.

Thanks for your interest!
