JMyron On Linux (Read 1062 times)
JMyron On Linux

I've been hunting for a couple of days now for a solid answer to this question.

Is it possible to run JMyron on linux?

I've read one post suggesting that recompiling the "extra DLLs"
DSVL.dll
myron_ezcam.dll

Is a possible answer. The same post suggests that this is a pointless exercise because DLLs are windows specific.

Linux is an ideal platform for me because I can scale the OS down to meet my needs and not waste any resources. I happen to be running Ubuntu (Fiesty) but if it works under a different distro I'll happily switch.

Has anyone succeeded in running JMyron under linux?

Playing around with Linux for the first time having done this on Mac and Windows, so -- Bump!

Those DLLs are there to provide support for Windows DirectShow, so that way madness lies.

Your best bet, I think, would be to use JMyron for processing the images and get your capture elsewhere -- JMF / toxi's lib, etc.

I'll be experimenting with this myself; will let you know how it goes.

There's an experimental implementation of it using v4l (Video for Linux).
