Windows XP Screen resolution
Jul 18th, 2007, 1:01am

Hello,

Sorry this is not a Processing question per se.  I want to figure out how to add 640x480 to the choices of screen resolution in the Display Properties control panel.

Right now, I have to go to Advanced->Adapter->List All Modes and select 640x480 there.  Why doesn't it show up in the main list!?

It gets annoying at a gig when I'm trying to get my sketches running quickly.  (Some operate at different resolutions than others...)

Thanks if anyone knows an answer.

Have you tried doing it from the sketch itself, like:

http://processing.org/discourse/yabb_beta/YaBB.cgi?board=os_libraries_tools;action=display;num=1150213949;start=5#5

Or search somewhere like download.com for a freeware util to at least make it easier to get at if you have to do it outside java.  Ideally one with command-line that you could batch some frequently used modes.

I had the same trouble with my display properties panel. Fortunately, my video card came with it's own settings software.

If you have a Nvidia or Ati card you might need to download some extra software from their site. It's called something like "tray tools" or "desktop manager".

These tools let you setup resolutions and switch between them with hotkeys.

Of course it all depends on the brand/model you have.
