I'll be part of a search committee this fall trying to fill an Assistant or Associate Professor (tenure-track) position in computational media + journalism. I'm hoping some of you may be able to recommend candidates (including yourself!)
The candidate will need either an MFA or PhD in a related field, be fluent/literate in computational media (I'm of course hoping that includes coding) and have educational and/or professional experience in journalism. From my perspective, the ideal candidate will be (passionately) interested in pioneering new approaches, tools, and processes in computational media that use journalism (quite loosely) as primary content.
The position is a joint appointment in Journalism and Interactive Media Studies (IMS). IMS is a rapidly growing program at the university, with solid, long term funding and wide institutional support. In addition to the current available journalism position, there will be a number of new joint IMS positions created in the next few years, across a range of complimentary disciplines. Thus, the current IMS/Journalism candidate will have a strong voice in the growth of the wider IMS program.
I'll be working closely with this person, as I hold a joint appointment in Art and IMS (thus part of the reason for my initiative here
). Please feel free to post any questions, or if you prefer to contact me directly, please use: greenbi at muohio dot edu
Thanks,
Ira

After speaking with some folks on campus, it seems candidates without a formal background in Journalism could also be considered. PLEASE feel free to pass this post around. Thanks.
