I am interested in these concepts. Do you think giving some intuitive perspective of artificial phenomena like games to people has some value?

Watching some information visualization like stats of stocks is useful for certain people.

Do you think that the administrators of MMORPGs do same thing?

I wonder there is anything that i can take advantage of something fun.

- many faces of game.

Great topic for discussion. It does have value, yes. At least to my eyes.

Like someone can analyze how pieces of music loop through time (see Shape of Song by martin wattenberg), you could also hypothetically use the same concepts to capture trends in a game environment. MMORPGs are one of the possible targets of such a study.

I believe what needs to be done here, is throughly think about how exactly that information should be presented, because it should be intuitive enough to provide a link with the source (I can't just look at any random line in a screen and assume some player was jumping up and down repeatedly).

I'd love to see some more views on this.

i agree that studying mmporgs is valuable. what i find interesting about these environments is how virtual economies cross over into the real world. have you seen this article at the walrus?

if you are looking for a meaningful story to tell in your visualisation, this could be a good place to start. (imho).
