Forum [tag] FAQ

It would be nice to have a page saying how to put stuff in code readable format
Code:

code

Which you do by: <code></code> but using square brackets instead of pointy ones.
And also some notes on how to <a href="forum or web-site link">link</a> so you don't get a huge two line URL for one link. And how to upload an image in case you wanted some form of illustration in the text.

It seems that only a few of us know how to do the whole kaboodle. Some one was nice enough to tell me how to format my code properly but the rest is still a mystery to me.

Lots of people ask how to format their code, a quick FAQ page would make all the difference. Maybe it already exists. I haven't been able to find it though.

Most forum systems (incl. ours) are using a simple type of markup language, called BBCode.  If you're using FireFox as your browser, you can install a context menu extension to help with inserting BB tags...

Magic!

Thanks, I promise not to abuse this feature (in future).

anyone care to write such a faq page? or at least help us get started? the basics on how to use the code tags would be the big thing, it needn't be that manual distilled. plus any of the other stuff that commonly comes up on the board (i.e. read the faq, please no double posts, what goes in what forum, check the bugs db...)

I tried

But web page design is clearly not one of my strong points. Especially when I'm not used to the whole CSS standard I working with at the time. It also kinda ends abruptly.

st33d,

thanks for your effort. Looks good for me. You might want to add something about links.
Is there anything you still need help with

Hope the page will go online soon. I know this probably isn't top priority, but it would add to the impressison of "completeness", which the Processing website has managed to achieve and maintain.

Completing the page would require a page header .gif. I couldn't find the font anywhere so that's something for someone else to do. I've added a mention of links at the bottom of entering code but I doubt it's a priority, if people are that interested in making their post more eloquent they'll look up the BB code link.

The page would be better done with a second draft, but I've got to work on my thesis. Someone else can take over.

Go for it. I think the links would need tweaking because they aren't operating from a local page, but it's only really relevant if the site undergoes a major overhaul.
