Conference, exhibition and concert about generative art and design

Atelier Nord / National Museum / Hausmania

Blog: http://www.generatorx.no/.
Complete programme in PDF-format: Programme (PDF)

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Generator.x explores aesthetic strategies for a digital world. The project presents a new generation of artists and designers who embrace computer code as their tool of choice. Their creative expressions are made possible by a new understanding of software as an aesthetic material with potential for subjective interpretation, and not just as a
technical obstacle.

The participants in Generator.x express themselves just as comfortably through coding as through traditional “intuitive” processes like drawing. Inspired by complexity theory and principles of emergent behavior, they construct intelligent design objects, visualizations of unfathomable datasets and beautiful abstract visuals. They create
algorithmic drawing machines that develop over time, sound compositions that never repeat themselves and new udiovisual instruments for live performance.

Topics for discussion include generative aesthetics, process-based design, performative software and artist-created software.

I saw Erich Berger's performance last weekend at Ars Electronica. It was fantastic! I'm looking forward to seeing it again, it's not to be missed.

Since I've decided to attend the conference I've been truly exited. Even more so since the program for the club event is up.

I was wondering who else is planning to go to the conference? I'd be nice to meet and get to know the people behind the forum posts and pieces of code.

Since the conference takes place in Norway I'm guessing there will be more Europeans attending than people from overseas. I'm from Switzerland.

I'd be cool if everybody had a sign of recognition. I guess a gold-painted cardboard Nica would do the trick Wink.

Everybody hands up, who is in?

pace,
Greg

Shame on you if you live in Europe and didn't come to Generator.x. Marius Watz put together a fantastic symposium, exhibition, and group of performances last weekend in Oslo.

Yes it was awesome! My Head still hurts (bloody table jumped on it it seemed!)
Casey, I really liked your presentation. Good to see people find their path. But especially I was tipped by the theoretical talks on the first day. Perspectives on generative art/creative coding can be so different depending where you come from. I hardly doubt that less then 80% are in it just for the fun Smiley
