Recognition of patterns

Hi again processers!

Now I'm into some new ideas with my current project and I wonder if anyone has used any kind of pattern-recognition, like regognizing simple figures like squares, circles or just lines. If anyone has any ideas that may help me I would appreciate it.

ps. Btw, I'll post a link to the project I'm working with when I'm done in the middle of August. It's an augmented collectible card game. ds.
