syntax highlighting on the website
« on: Apr 8th, 2003, 12:13am »

Would it be possible to display the code examples with syntax highlighting, maybe using stylesheets? That would greatly improve the readability of the code on the examples pages. Appart from that, great website!

nico,

could you post a simple example of this? for example, post a portion of how the stylesheet would be formatted for this purpose.

Maybe this would help - I just found out about it!

sample output examples:

It does not use style sheets, just plain html, but has different possible styles. What you would need to do is modify the grammar a little bit for the proce55ing format.

cheers,
nico

ah, that's a great tip. thanks.
i need to finish some other aspects or the project first, but getting the syntax highlighting in the browser is a priority.

It is also quite simple if you use JavaScript. Just let some script search through a page and then replace words by words wrapped in html-tags that color it.
