that would be casey's excellent artwork that's used for the splash screen. only the macos9 version has the splash currently, though other versions will get it in the future.
i've temporarily posted a copy of the .pict image (works on mac or through quicktime for the pc) here: http://acg.media.mit.edu/people/fry/temp/splash.pict
unfortunately it's only screen resolution, however.. no pdf/ps version currently available.
