reference/learning and applets
« on: Nov 18th, 2004, 12:51am »

I hope this is the right place to put this suggestion.

It would be very useful to me, personally, if applets in the reference and learning sections could be put behind a link. I use Firefox on the Mac as my main browser and it is, unfortunately, rather unstable when it comes to Java applets - crashing frequently when pages containing applets scroll, close, change location or when keys are pressed.

If I know I'm going to encounter a page with an applet I would normally open it in IE which is more robost for this type of thing (Safari is just too heavy on this G3 machine). I hate having to use IE for general browsing purposes and as I'm spending a lot of time on this site of late, it irks me to have to browse the whole site with it when all I really want to do is pop into a reference page to glance at the syntax, or a code example, without it crashing the browser.

A simple href (not a javascript pop-up) linking to the example file would be enormously beneficial for me and, I'm sure, one or two other people.

Hello Vair,

I can't reconfigure the entire learning and reference sections. You can check out all the learning examples from within the Processing environment, they are included with your software. The reference is also included with your software. I recommend keeping a local version open in IE while you are working to serve as a quick reference.
