Java window not responding
« on: Mar 8th, 2004, 3:54am »

When I try to run other peoples examples off the net which use java, the window of the application doesn't respond. It doesn't refresh, accept mouse clicks or change focus. I have reinstalled the java sdk, as well as  quicktime sdk but the problem still persist.

I'm on win2000, with the latest service packs.

some other folks have had trouble with this. for some reason java mode apps are blocked by norton antivirus. i don't have a copy so i ahven't been able to try and get a fix in there for it.

however, the 2004 edition apparently fixes the problem. probably disabling norton while running p5 would work fine too, if that's possible.

I've tried disabling norton, however the problem still persist. I've made an observation which might help in debugging it. Whenever I run the application using the run icon on the upper left hand corner, if i leave the mouse cursor in the area where the icons are the java window will appear and be correctly drawn. However it will still not accept mouse input.

If I run the application using the icon and move the mouse out of the UI area where the icons reside, and into the program text window, the java application does not get drawn, nor accepts mouse inputs.

Very odd behavior, both of which occure with norton on/off.

Good Luck!
