floating command palette!! (think external editor)

This just hit me. It would be really cool if I could undock the tool bar on the left as a floating, always on top, menu. This way I could use my own loverly editor (vim) and still have access to the processing commands. I can actually duplicate this fairly well by making the window very small (big enough for the buttons left, the menu and a little bit of console); works great so far. I would do a command palette that could be floated as well as a "mini-console" for error messages that could dock to the tool palette (or not). Or can I compile and render a sketch from the command line? -K

Follow-up, even though the Processing editor doesn't use line numbers (does it?), it would be nice if the error message would be prefaced with the line number. This way, using the external editor, I can quickly see where the (my) error is.
