More files open

I was thinking it would be a nice feature if you would be able to have more than 1 file opened at one time, so you can copy and paste from on sketch to another easily. Maybe you could use tabs. Koenie

| happily, this can already be done, just not from within p5. open up sketchbook/default and then make new folders and organize away. next time you run p5, things will be sorted into subfolders. saving into subfolders and whatnot may be a little difficult or impossible, but you can at least do a little organizing after the fact.

| Yeah, Tabs would be nice. I dunno about other platforms but under Windows multiple instances of p5 can be run at once. I do this quite often when working on multiple files.

| Not that i've noticed, or indeed, been informed about. Never really thought about it, but it's never cropped up as an issue (for me).

yeah, the tabbed editor is a toss-up. we're trying to figure out what's best in terms of how much time we spend building a better editor vs. just what's needed for the majority of users. our general feeling is that for people who are picky, they'll use their editor of choice anyway, so we're betting off spending time on other parts. but it's a delicate balance between making sure that the editor is 'usable' and useful, versus underpowered to the point of frustration. for instance, i think find/replace is prolly a necessity. tabs i'd love to have (i like tabs a lot personally) but i'm not sure if it's needed for the built-in editor (it starts breaking the single sketch model, so there are repercussions). somewhere in-between was another query for a contextual menu cut/copy/paste.. which side does that fall on?

the contextual menu i think falls under normal windows functionality, and therefore a necessity. you can always argue that keyboard shortcuts are a better way, but then many people do prefer using the mouse over the keyboard. i'm not sure how dominant such things are on other operating systems though.

| I use my editor of choice for everything but Processing stuff, just because the environment is so good. Syntax highlighting, running it right away, everything is there.

danh has completed context menu cut/copy/paste for 57. tabs/multiple files are still a question mark.
