I'm teaching a class at UCLA beginning in April and the USC workshop just started. Both require enrollment at those institutions. If there's a critical mass (>12) of people interested, we could make something else happen. I doubt there are many people in LA reading this board so an alternative communication strategy would probably be necessary.

for small location such as in a school, make posters will be good. for a big city like LA, i don't know... i plan to make a workshop too here in my school and i think i will make such announcement with low cost small posters.

reas... any suggestions on alternate communication strategies? what is the format of your class in april at UCLA (how many sessions,...). Also what exactly are you covering in the class? i am enrolled at a different graduate program, but i think something could be worked out. thanks.

the class will be like this: http://classes.design.ucla.edu/Fall03/157A/ it runs from the beginning of may - mid june. i think doing something outside the universities could be positive. there's a space in chinatown that we may be able to use.

I know 3 Art Center students who I know would take the class if at all possible. And there are probably a few more than that. Matt

there is a growing number of students here at sciarc (southern california institute of architecture) who are also intrested in some sort of workshop over the summer. if art center and sciarc combined we could make up the neccessary amount of people?.

summer seems like a great idea. there are many ways to have a workshop. we should do it in an interesting way. on a related note, a dorkbot for southern california is starting up: http://www.dorkbot.org/dorkbotsocal/
