yeah, i'd imagine the older the student, the more set into one type or another they would be/seem. however, this kind of thinking can also be used to come up with a pallet of learning projects. students could then pick the one (or two) they're most interested in pursuing, which would lead them to investigate their own way of exploring the subject at hand.
