SONIA V2.4 is up at http://pitaru.com/sonia
many changes have been made (and a couple of things depricated), so please make sure to go over the notes.
I'll add more examples this week.

Somehow I can't install the JSyn plug-in. It says: ERROR - the JSyn classes are MISSING! What to do, what to do?!

i had this before...
you could do the following:
deinstall java.
go to the sun.java-site and download the newest
java-platform if it is possible.
then install it to C:\ .
after i did this, then downloading jSyn, returning
to the jSyn-installation-site (and the rest with the .ddl+.jar-files), it worked well.
hope itll work for you as well....

i had the same problem one month ago when trying to install jsyn on my win2k system (on my box, c: is for win98 and d: for win2k)
somehow, don't ask me why, i felt on this "Install JSyn for Mac OS X" page: www.softsynth.com/jsyn/plugins/install_mac_osx.html
and it worked (really!..)

What would it take to get liveInput from CD / iTunes on Mac OSX?

i think it's impossible to re-route the sound out to use as sound input again on the mac (at least not via software). if you want to use CD audio you have to choose the CD as sound source in the system control panel BEFORE launching your applet. it will always only access the system default audio input.

how about using a mini-jack to mini-jack cable and plug it into the speaker and microphone plugs
...then i should work?
...and if you want to hear the music at the same time, just buy a mini-jack splitter (1 jack to 2 jacks) and split the signal coming from the speaker.

Ariel - sometimes the jsyn installer erroneously reports a problem (missing files etc). My advice - after you do the PC install, just restart the browser and try to load one of the Sonia examples. There's a chance it'll work fine. If not try the OSX installer 
On the matter of getting liveInput to work with itunes on a mac - i've also reached a dead-end. Next version of sonia will reroute internal samples into the liveInput engine. That'll do the trick.

For PC (winamp or any other program) you can change the input source like so:
- Open the Control Panel > Sound & Multimedia
- Choose the 'Audio' tab
- Click on 'Volume' in the *SOUND RECORDING* section.
- Choose the desired input source (via check-boxes)
You can also reach this window by double-clicking on the volume icon, then Options>Properties>Recording>Apply

Are there any plans to integrate SONIA into Processing as part of the default language? It's a little daunting to install third party plug-ins such as JSyn.

we're actually moving other parts out of the core language (video, serial, network) and making it easier to load external code. this opens opportunities for people to modify and extend the language.
