This is a re-creation of something I put together in director recently.

it is absolutely marvelous!

it's a nice piece for sure...

what do you see as the differences between the processing version and the director version? why are they distinctly different.

Thanks for the complements.

The differences between the processing version and the director version are solely visual. They both have almost the same type of motion and interaction. The reason for the strong visual differences is purely improvisational. I had an idea of what I wanted the pendulums to look like and I thought I would toy with the thought of having them draw on the background. When I finished the director version I decided that it looked too busy and omitted the drawing on the background. I did however leave the lines that connect the pendulums (what I used to generate the background image). These lines can be viewed by hitting the space bar. Each line is established when two pendulums collide --  so if you start off holding the space bar, you will be able to watch all connections get established. In the processing version, when two pendulums collide they change color temporarily leaving imprints on the background... this didn't look excessively busy because I had arbitrarily made the pendulums smaller in the p5 version.

Leaving room for improvisation is something that has always worked well for me.
