the interesting thing is that it becomes more unreadable the more 'balanced' you make it.

makes sense, i guess. you can't understand analog methods if you're trying to interpret them as digital, and vise versa.

Really well conceived, Manny.  Nicely done.
 
On a related note, would it be easy to throw up a sweeping second hand version?  I know it would muck up the digital read out, but I think it would be nice to see the second counter rotate slowly as opposed to ticking.
