Web Status 10 February

The premature atrophy of the Processing website is being halted. Web engines are being added with record speed. We've added a new reference section called Libraries. With the next release of Processing (69) we will be releasing a standard way of extending Processing. This will make it easier for people to make Processing do what then want it to. This new section of reference is thin now, but will hopefully soon be full of additional reference for exciting Libaries for writing Postscript, parsing XML, etc. http://processing.org/reference/libraries/index.html TechNotes had fallen into a shameful state, including many links to old API. It now has an automated engine, making is easier to update. Would anyone like the honor of "owning" the TechNotes section of the website? This would involve monitoring the Discourse and linking appropriate threads. http://processing.org/reference/technotes/index.html

That's fantastic! This can be task for multiple people, if anyone else interested. At this point, Arielm, Toxi, and myself are also occasionally updating this page.

I think I can help monitoring the TechNotes. I check out the boards almost every day. Koenie

Hi! I'm new. Does one have to know Java and/or Director or other programs to do art with Processing? Arabella

Hi, No (IMO). It's not a bad idea to learn some java and OO at the same time (IMO) but not necessary. The examples here and included with the software will give you a good start. -K
