Writing characters with accents in controlP5 textfield

What I want: I am trying to enter names such as Miguel López into a controlP5 textfield in order to search through several documents. Although every character is displayed, when I attempt to use my keyboard to enter ó, the characters are displayed separately, as in the accent character " ' " and then "o".
What I have tried:
I have created and loaded a new font with all characters included, and changed my keyboard on my PC. I am using Processing 2.2.1and controlP5 2.2.5.
