How to turn off grey bar at insertion point?
This is a new feature that personally I don't like. I looked in the preferences file but couldn't determine which line was controlling this.

What gray bar are you talking about?
I'm working with Processing 2.1.1 on Mac OS 10.7.5. Whichever line the cursor is on has a grey bar going across the window - presumably to help you find the cursor. It looks like this:
