bypass admin password

In an education environment is there any way to bypass admin password without causing a breach in security? We found a fix by using commands in command prompt but again it's a breach of security....any ideas?

  • a fix for what?

  • Oh sorry Processing 3. It only works when you use admin acct or type in admin password in student acct. We need to use this is 10 rooms over 300 computer stations.

  • "It only works when you use admin acct" -- then Processing wasn't installed correctly for your needs in the first place. There is no particular reason for Processing to require admin access -- it is normally installed as a user application with no password required.

Are you working with campus IT or a computer lab technician on this?

  • IT for a huge high school. We have tried running different versions, the 2.x version works fine (and does not require a password) but it does not work with practice codes required when we tested it. I understand we are running the program vs installing it which is why we are so perplexed. We use domain accts. We made a new domain user acct (not restricted) and it worked but students would then have access to command prompt which they ordinarily would not have access to that -among other things.

  • All Processing versions demand access to the local network in order to communicate w/ its spawn running window. Pay close attention to the firewall too.

  • Correction: We made a local account which worked but far too many options for eager students to mess around with. The existing student accts are domain accts.

Thanks for the responses and please continue with suggestions. We are going to try some things in group policy because we are hoping to limit the hands on interaction for all 300 computers, and because they wanted to start using this last week.
