How to detect if Leap finger is touching the surface of an object?

I would like to manipulate complex objects with the leap motion. With a box it was easy, I only needed to check if the finger position X,Y and Z were between the values of the box, but with more complex object (for e.g. a toronoid) I have no clue how to do it.

I found Shape3D library, but as I see it it can only pick objects and can't check for their surfaces.
