Geomerative: Dividing a character in segments

The problem I'm having is that I want to divide a character into a certain number of segments. The RCommands methods only let me set how it divides its segment into smaller pieces, or return the number of control points (the basic number of segments, inherited by its shape).

Is there a way to say "divide this outline into X segments"?
