Integrating Shapefiles and/or WMS

Hello, I am just starting with Processing but would like to incorporate some geographic data that I have in a shapefile. I found a couple of blogs that mention this topic but I was wondering if anyone has a good tutorial on how to use geographic data in Processing. I would also be interested in how I can incorporate WMS datasets. Ideally I would like to use both the geographic coordinates and attributes from my geographic datasets.
