Mmmtsss - A very interesting project

A couple of days back I came across this interesting project made in openFrameworks. How would you make something like this in Processing:

I am very interested in something which can record beats on the fly and then loop them. A friend of mine dances to hip hop and he was asking me if I could make something for his laptop so that he can tap a few keys and make beats which keep looping.

This is part of the Processing standard Library
http://code.compartmental.net/tools/minim/
and a good place to start.
